Building Services Technician (Shift Plant Operator)
We are seeking a Building Services Technician (Shift Plant Operator) to join our Estates & Facilities team. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and adjustment of plant systems, including steam-raising boiler plant and associated equipment, ensuring efficient operation within a framework of best value.
You will also interrogate and adjust Building Management Systems (BMS) via a site-based PC, respond to alarms, and assist with installation, improvement, and maintenance activities across the University estate. Occasional visits to plant rooms and other University areas will form part of your daily routine.
The current rotation includes 6am 2pm, 2pm 10pm and 10pm 6am. Followed by two weeks of 8am 4pm, Monday to Friday.
About You
Have relevant experience in plant monitoring and adjustment, including steam-raising boiler plant, or significant experience in electrical, mechanical, or building services disciplines.
NVQ Level 2 in Engineering Maintenance (or equivalent) preferred.
Ability to work to tight deadlines, at height, in confined spaces, and in hazardous areas.
Working knowledge (or willingness to train) in Health & Safety legislation, mechanical regulations, steam plant systems, and IT to ECDL standard.
