House Services Cluster Manager



About the role:

House Services employs over 400 colleagues, with the aim of providing the highest standards in cleaning, portering and associated services, across the University Academic, Teaching and Learning Estate. This role is 35 hours a week Monday-Friday on a flexible basis between the hours of 6.45am-21.30pm. There will also be the occasional requirement to work a weekend to cover out-of-hours events.


About you:

We are aiming to recruit a suitably skilled and motivated individual to undertake the day-to-day operational management of the House Services team within a cluster. The Cluster Manager will be responsible for managing and directing a team of Assistant Cluster Managers and their team’s ensuring the highest of attainable standards in the provision of excellent soft facilities management.

Applicants are required to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to lead, plan, guide, support and oversee the delivery of workplace cleaning, portering and associated services.

Applicants must also be able to demonstrate their understanding of how to lead by example, to be able to motivate and support others in consistently achieving required standards, whilst also ensuring that all supervisory guidance is underpinned with understanding, compassion and encouragement for their team and its individual members.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate their suitability through an understanding of the role requirements, preferably gained through relevant experience. They should also be confident using IT software for administration, day-to-day planning, and reporting purposes.

Candidates should also have the ability to manage and prioritise their own workload and possess effective written and verbal communication skills to the needs of the role. You will possess a professional qualification in facilities management and/or demonstratable professional skills and knowledge gained through relevant industry experience.
