Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Coordinator
What the role entails:
We are recruiting for a permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week) to the role of Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Coordinator (Student Support), within Student and Academic Services, within the Directorate of the Student Experience.
The role involves coordinating admissions and ongoing student support to online and blended learners both in the UK and overseas. Our learners may be studying part time for a Post Graduate qualification or completing a short course as part of their career development.
You will need to be a problem-solver with excellent communication skills, answering queries directly from OBL students by phone, email or online, or serving as an advocate for the student in tracking down answers from other University support teams. You will also provide online welcome sessions to new students via web conferencing software and be able to train new students in the use of this software and help them to diagnose and resolve problems.
Candidates are expected to have significant experience of working in a customer support environment, answering queries and taking ownership of problems while maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality. Experience of working with customers in support of online services and/or students within an educational environment would be an advantage, but not essential.
Candidates will require the proven ability to successfully organise their own time, prioritise workloads and work effectively as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential. Candidates will also be expected to have good general computing skills, particularly in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and online meeting software, and be prepared to undertake further technical training where necessary.
It would be advantageous, but not necessary, to have experience of working with the Canvas VLE, as well as some familiarity with online and blended learning through either completing or supporting an online course.
